Welcome to 2015!!

Flowers of Southport Newsletter

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2015!  We hope that those that took holidays over the Christmas break had a good, relaxing time.On Christmas Eve, the “Win A $5,000 Diamond Ring†Competition was drawn, it was all very exciting!  Marsha G. from Robina won who placed an order back in May 2014, and, as as she’s a local, was able to come into the shop to collect her beautiful diamond ring.  It was lovely to meet her, and we were all astonished when Marsha tried the ring on and it fitted perfectly – what a lovely Christmas present!

Wedding season is coming soon with the cooler weather in March.  We own “The Lilac Tree†which is a specialist award winning Wedding & Event florist, run by ourselves, which has a separate website to Flowers Of Southport, but has a direct link on the Flowers Of Southport site – just click on Weddings on the home page, or go direct –http://www.thelilactree.com.au/.

The Lilac Tree has a wealth of designs for bouquets, ceremony and reception table flowers, all individually priced on the site.  With everyone being so time poor these days, we decided to disclose all prices upfront, rather than brides having to contact us, then wait on wedding quotes, which can make the process slow & annoying!  There are also comprehensive “Wedding Packages†which include delivery, for those that prefer an overall package.

Glynda has been busy updating our “Wedding Packages†with some lovely new designs during the quiet of January, before the hectic rush of Valentines Day, which is galloping up fast on 14th Feb!  The girls have been sourcing some beautiful ribbons, romantic gifts and rose boxes for the big day, with some lovely new additions such as diamonte hearts to go on the 12 rose rose box. It certainly puts them all in a romantic, dreamy frame of mind, which I guess has given Glynda inspiration for the new designs in her wedding flowers range!

The demolition of the old GC Hospital is gathering steam, there is very little left apart from the main tower, and the cranes are busy chopping great bits of concrete out of it.  It’s like something out of Terminator 1!  There continue to be lots of people stopping and videoing as it’s pretty dramatic, watching the walls being eaten into by the cranes, and falling from the 7th and 8th stories to the rubble on the ground!  There are plenty of rumours going around as to what is going in, we have heard everything from a new Westfield shopping centre to residential towers, to it being split up and office towers being built – if you know another rumour, we’d love to hear it!  One FREE box of Milk Tray Chocolates to the best one – just email us on shop@flowersofsouthport.com.au and we’ll do a draw in one weeks time for the most inventive and crazy rumour!

Wishing you all a great week, and let’s hope it doesn’t get too hot!!

Best wishes,
Glynda and Alan Hall, Raven and Brie
