Winter is Coming with new flower varieties

With temperatures starting to fall, we are starting to see some lovely winter flower varieties becoming available from our wholesalers.

Bulb type flowers are now starting to bloom, and this means we are getting narcissus in jonquil and paper whites coming in.  They make a lovely delicate and fragrant bouquet, and can easily be added into most size vases at home. There is a wider range of tulips available too, in pinky mauves, pale mauves, red and yellow coloured petals, reds and creams etc.  Even English lavender is back!

Most excitingly, we can now start to source Garden Roses – do you remember them?  Beautiful large headed roses, that can be seen in gardens in cities such as Melbourne, Launceston etc.  David Austin roses are also coming in with their exciting twirl of petals in the centre, in delicate pinks and creams this week.  If you would like a bouquet of these roses, they require 24 hours notice, but are definitely worth the wait!  And they have a scent.  Although Garden Roses and David Austin Roses don’t have as long a life as standard roses, they are SO beautiful we hope you can forgive them for blooming bright and brilliant for a shorter time!  Please call us on 07 55310088 to order.

We are also excited to share that our apprentice, Brie, has successfully graduated from the Gold Coast Floristry and Retail Management College!  She now has her Certificate 3 in Floristry which takes 1 year to complete and is packed full of written and practical exams.  All our staff receive formal training at TAFE, in addition to “on the job” training, to ensure high standards are maintained in the creation of your special bouquets and arrangements.  It was a very exciting graduation night to share with Brie and her proud mum, along with the other students with their families and friends.  Our other staff member & past graduate of the Floristry college, Raven, also came along and we had a lovely time with lots of nibblies and laughter thanks to the college organising a great graduation night for all.

Don’t forget about our special offers we told you about in our last newsletter –

Snuggle up and keep warm – we’re already starting to plan our Christmas In July menu for our friends in a couple of weeks. There certainly is a cold snap coming through – brrrr!

Until next time, best wishes for a great week,

Alan and Glynda Hall
