Flowers of Southport – Godzilla and Father Christmas!

Flowers of Southport Newsletter

As we are opposite the old Gold Coast Hospital, we have been experiencing a large amount of banging and crashing as the buildings are slowly demolished. It was very exciting today to see the middle section of D Block slowly being eaten by a crane thing that resembles Godzilla, as it chomps into the concrete walls and sends large chunks tumbling to the ground. The back area of the hospital is pretty much all gone now, with the front small buildings of the hospital slowly going. The next big demolition will be the tower itself of the main hospital, the scaffolding has reach halfway up today.

The tendering process is still open for the sale, so it will be exciting to see when these close at the end of November, who has bought the separate parcels of land, and what will be built, especially with no height restrictions. Will we have a Q2???? â€“ We don’t think so, but it’s great to see the old area being cleared so effectively, ready for the next stage. The new hospital is only 10 minutes drive from us, and many of the staff and Southport residents are as interested as we all are – there have been groups of people stopping on the footpath outside our shop watching the spectacle as D Block crumbles, thanks to “Godzillaâ€,  with the “whump†as the concrete lands on the ground with great clouds of dust! Fascinating stuff! Lots of closed front doors at the moment.

On a completely different subject, many of you know we accept AMEX at our shop and online with no additional transaction fees. AMEX are running a campaign called Shop Small, supporting small business. By going to their website and registering, if you spend $20 at any participating AMEX small business between 1/11/14 – 30/11/14, you will receive a credit from AMEX of $10!!! See https://amexnetwork.com.au/ShopSmall/Shoppers for the full details.  Now that’s a pretty nice offer, we thought it was too good to not share with you, especially with Christmas coming up, a little bit of extra spending money is always handy.

With Christmas decorations going up everywhere, we thought we would get in the Christmas mood too – spend over $45 with us on any one order & we will include a FREE box of delicious Ferrero Roche chocolates (200gm) with your gift! This offer will run from 7th November – 24th December ’14, and is for internet, phone AND shop orders, making a lovely add on (no substitutions apply).  Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas, as the man in red says!

With the G20 summit on this week, many people who work in Brisbane will be enjoying the public holiday on 14th November – just to let you know that we will be open all day on Friday 14th November, with Gold Coast deliveries available as normal.
Have a great weekend, and pop over if you want to have a look at the old hospital site spectacle!

Until next time, have a good week,
