For nearly 30 years, the Gold Coast community has supported our little flower shop — and we’ve always wanted to give a little back.

This page is a quiet acknowledgement of the local groups and people we’re lucky to work alongside. It’s less about us, and more about the kids, families and organisations doing wonderful things across the Gold Coast.

Monthly partnership — PCYC Queensland

We’ve just begun a wonderful new monthly partnership with PCYC Queensland. Each month, we send a fresh, hand-arranged bouquet for their Gymnast of the Month program, which celebrates one young gymnast who’s shown outstanding effort, mastered a new skill, supported their teammates or brought a great attitude to the gym — the qualities, in PCYC’s words, “that make our gymnastics community great.”

It’s a small thing on our end and a big moment for the kids who receive it. We love being part of it.

Having been a gymnast myself as a young girl, this one is especially close to my heart.

Latin Community Hub — Gold Coast

We were proud to support Latin Community Hub, a Gold Coast organisation that connects and supports our local Latin community through events, networking and shared culture. We’ve donated fresh local-flower arrangements to support several of their events over time.

As a Venezuelan family who’s made the Gold Coast home, this one is especially close to our hearts.

The Saturday Bouquet — a small Gold Coast tradition

We’re closed on Sundays, so every Saturday we pick one Gold Coast neighbour at random and give them a fresh, hand-arranged bouquet — just because.

No purchase needed, no draw, no fanfare. Just a small “thank you for being part of the neighbourhood” from a family-owned florist that’s served the Gold Coast since 1996.

The reactions have been some of the most moving moments of our week — people cry, send hand-written notes back, message us days later to say how much it meant. If a bunch of flowers brightens someone’s weekend, we’ve done our job.

Want to nominate someone — or be next?

Send us a quick message and tell us who in your life could use a brighter Saturday. Send us a note — we read every one.

Other community contributions

From time to time we also support local schools, hospitals and community events with flowers and arrangements. We can’t do everything, but we try to say yes when something close to our heart comes through the shop door.

Thank you to every Gold Coast neighbour, customer and community group who’s made the last 30 years possible.

From our bench

Some moments remind us exactly why we do this. This one happened on a rainy Saturday.

The Power of a Random Act of Kindness

At Flowers of Southport, we believe in the power of small gestures and the joy that flowers can bring to people’s lives. One rainy Saturday, a heartwarming story unfolded that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

A customer recently visited our store and shared a touching memory. “You probably don’t remember me,” he said, “but on a rainy Saturday, your husband ran after me and my mother, who was in a wheelchair. He gave my mum some flowers and said they were a gift from Flowers of Southport.”

His mother was overjoyed by this unexpected act of kindness. “My mum was so happy; she took care of those flowers and told everyone about that experience,” he continued.

“When I saw her that happy, I knew I had to become your regular. I love seeing those shiny eyes whenever I can.”

He also told us he always recommends us to others — not just because of the kind gesture, but because the flowers lasted so long, too.

What this customer experienced is part of our Saturday tradition. Every Saturday, we give flowers away to unsuspecting customers — just to brighten their day and put a smile on their faces. We believe in giving back to our community and spreading joy, one flower at a time.

Stories like these remind us that what we do goes beyond selling flowers. We have the chance to create memories, spread happiness and make a difference in people’s lives — and it’s the reason we pour our hearts into every arrangement.

At Flowers of Southport, we’re not just in the business of selling flowers — we’re in the business of creating smiles and memories that last a lifetime.
